Choosing a college that will be a right fit is very important. College visits are a great way to get the information you need to help you decide which college you'll attend. College visits provide students with an experience that can't be duplicated through word-of-mouth or online research. Check out a couple of the many reasons why college visits are beneficial:
Visiting the colleges your are interested in gives you the opportunity to get a firsthand look at what that college is actually like. Simply walking around campus will give you an idea of what your life would be at that college. A brochure or a website can only show you so much. When you're walking around the quad or sitting in on a class, you'll be able to tell, with certainty, if the campus is a place you could spend the next 4-5 years.
During your college visits you'll have the chance to speak to students, faculty, and financial aid and admissions officers. You'll be able to ask them any questions you have. Check out our college visit guide to get an idea of what to focus on during your tour.
Which college you choose is up to you. Do you feel comfortable on the campus? Is it what you imagined college to be like? Spending time on a campus is a great way to help you determine whether that college will be a good fit. If you can, visit each college you are interested in, and then follow your instincts before making the final decision.
